Winter Storm – Homework – Testing 1-2-3 Can you work remotely?

January 2nd, 2018 by EKG Networking

Winter in New England is welcoming the new year in on Thursday.

At least weather forecast of the moment is declaring a Nor’easter.

So as events begin to cancel and reschedule do yourself a favor:

Test your connections to things you want to have during a storm.

Have you charged all your devices and any backup power sources you may use in the event of an outage?

Have you tested your remote access to things to make sure you can get there from wherever you may be for the day?

When was the last time you checked your phone messages from home?

The world is a much more portable place with a little planning ahead.

For those of you braving the weather regardless of conditions, please make sure no texting while driving and stay safe.

Winter Storms – To shutdown or not to shutdown your systems that is the question?

January 26th, 2015 by EKG Networking

Welcome to New England, where wait a minute it’s 60 degrees one day and 12 degrees the next.  As we head into a somewhat legendary snow storm, we are being asked “should I shut down my server and unplug it or not?”  For this storm, we are keeping our systems on.  We have battery backups as most of our clients do which will take the hit in the event of power outage and shut down the server safely.  We have one client who is located in the woods and with the amount of wind expected it made sense for them to shut down for the largest part of the storm.

If you  have any questions, please contact us at the office.

Thank you and happy snow storm.
